SEND and Learning Differences

Built for how your child actually learns, not how they should learn

Standard tutoring does not work for every learner. Our platform includes accessible features such as dyslexia-friendly formatting and text-to-speech. For SEND placements, we assess the student's needs and select a tutor with relevant verified experience or training; support remains educational rather than clinical or diagnostic.

Our Process

Assess first. Teach with precision. Measure the outcome.

Generic tutoring fails because it guesses what is wrong. We find out. The first four weeks are a structured diagnostic phase, giving us everything we need to teach with purpose from Week 5 onwards.

1

Free Assessment Call

A 20-minute call to understand your child's current level, knowledge gaps, learning style, and any SEND needs. We explain our diagnostic approach and walk through what to expect. No obligation.

2

Weeks 1 to 2: Diagnostic Assessment

Our tutors assess your child's knowledge across their enrolled subjects, identifying exactly where gaps exist, how they process information, and what barriers are affecting their confidence.

3

Weeks 3 to 4: Strategic Roadmap

By Week 4, your child has a complete learning profile and a strategic roadmap. We know precisely what needs to happen and in what order. This is what separates us from tutors who simply follow a textbook.

4

Week 5 Onwards: Targeted Teaching

Every session is driven by diagnostic findings. Tutors focus on the gaps that matter most, track progress weekly, and adjust the approach as your child improves. No guessing. No wasted time.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

We start with a full diagnostic so we know exactly where your child is losing marks. From there we build a plan around their target grades, teach the content and the exam technique that earns marks, and set structured work between sessions. In practice, most of our students improve by at least two grades when they follow that regime with the same intensity they bring to lessons. programme. If that improvement is not achieved by the time of their final assessments, we continue tutoring at no additional cost until it is. This is a real commitment, not marketing language.
Because we diagnose before we teach. Most tutors start sessions immediately, without understanding what is actually wrong. We spend the first four weeks assessing exactly where your child's gaps are, how they process information, and what is affecting their confidence. Combined with specialist tutors who achieved top grades in their subjects and consistent weekly progress tracking, we know what needs to happen and we make it happen.
We offer multiple package intensities depending on how many subjects your child needs support in and how much time they have before exams. The right option depends on their specific situation. We discuss this during your free assessment call and recommend what we genuinely believe is most appropriate. There are no hidden costs and no pressure to choose a more expensive option than you need.
We consider each student's needs, the educational support requested, necessary adjustments and tutor competence before confirming a match. For SEND placements we select tutors with relevant verified experience or training. Adapt does not diagnose conditions, provide clinical care or guarantee that every tutor holds the same SEND qualification.
Getting the match right matters to us. If at any point you feel the tutor is not working out, academically or personally, let us know and we will arrange an alternative at no extra cost. There is no awkwardness and no delay.
Yes. There are no long-term contracts and no lock-in. Give us four weeks' notice in writing and no further charges will apply. We operate on month-to-month billing because we are confident the results will speak for themselves. We do not need a contract to keep you.
You receive a written progress update every week. We also carry out a monthly strategy review to check whether the current approach is on track and adjust where needed. You will never be left wondering. Progress data from Adapt Learning makes improvement visible and measurable throughout the programme.
Adapt Learning is our dedicated learning platform, containing 3,900+ exam specification questions across GCSE, 11+, 13+, KS2 and KS3. It is dyslexia-friendly, ADHD-optimised, and includes text-to-speech. Tutors use it to set work, track progress between sessions, and inform their planning. Access is included with every package at no additional cost.
We guarantee a tutor match within 48 hours of your assessment call. In most cases this happens within 24 hours. Every match considers subject expertise, SEND experience where relevant, and shared interests with your child. We do not assign whoever is available.

      Our Approach

A tutor who truly understands how your child thinks and learns

Most services match on subject alone. We match on learning profile, SEND experience, teaching approach, and shared interests. For children with SEND, the right tutor is not just someone who knows the subject. It is someone your child will actually open up to.

      Register Interest
      • Learning profile matching. Tutors are selected on the basis of your child's specific SEND needs, their subject requirements, and their learning style, not on availability alone.
      • Interest-led sessions. We identify shared passions between your child and their tutor. When a session begins with something your child loves, engagement follows naturally.
      • No pressure pacing. Sessions are structured around your child's rhythm and capacity. We never push at the expense of confidence.
      • EHCP-informed tutoring. With appropriate authority, we can use relevant EHCP information in lesson planning and provide factual progress evidence. We do not act as a legal or clinical representative or guarantee external decisions.
      • Regular structured updates. Written session notes after every lesson and monthly progress reviews ensure you are always fully informed.
      Interest Matching

How we find a tutor your child will actually connect with

Tell us what your child loves, and we will find a tutor who shares those passions. For children with SEND, this is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between a session that works and one that does not.
